Personal History
Louis DiVigny was the second child born to wealthy lording house in France, 1523. He had an older sister by four years named Phoebe. His father was big on financial success and it was something that he ingrained into his son at an early age as the boy would take over the estate later in life. When he was 15, his sister disappeared from her home in the night and he spent the next ten years hunting for her from his seat in the Estate. His father died three years after Phoebe's disappearance leaving an eighteen year old Louis in control.
In 1548 with a week to go before he was married to a reformed prostitute, Louis was turned and his sire, Gina, had the bride framed and murdered. With Louis believing that his wife to be had refused him and gone back to whoring, Gina stole Louis off to live in London with her.
Once in London, Louis caved under the stress of his death and the heartbreak of his fiancée and stopped caring. He let his desires and vices lead his life and to an extent, has never stopped. It was these vices that drove him to a massive opium orgy wherein he frenzied and slaughtered everyone after the event. Louis had endangered not only himself, but the people he lived with. A Gangral named Lucchi showed up then and took Louis to Germany to teach himself control. It took two years and a few close looks at his own death by Lucchi's hand before he gained his control and great sense of dodging.
With that base training under his belt, Gina welcomed Matt back to England with open arms and a wary eye. Gina tried to keep control over Matt, to temper his never ending thirst for life and 'a good time'. Towards the end of things, they argued more and more. Louis's quick volatile temper had put them in tough spots more often than not. Late June of that year, Gina became jealous of all the women that Louis cohorted with and confronted him about it. He bucked under her grasping delusion of control and lost his temper. Horrific things were done and by the end of it, Gina was dead and Matt had sucked her dry, elevating himself to a 9th Generation level. While he didn't eat her soul, letting her go to a final death, the murder of her drove him from London and to the United States out of fear of retribution from the Prince and Lucchi. It was then that he changed his name from Louis to Matthew. Within the years to come and with the blood hunting that Matthew did to gain the favor of the American Princes, he quickly earned the title 'Mad Matt'.
Until 1730, when he reunited with Phoebe, he made connections on the east coast, setting up profitable things such as drug trafficking to economically fuel his extensive parties and wardrobe needs. Phoebe introduced him to Maria, who was his on again off again lover until the 1950's. During the 1730's Phoebe entrapped her brother, putting him under a level 1 blood bond and resetting the dynamic they had shared in life.
Matthew traveled with the two ladies, leaving once every couple of years to go tend to business. In 1788, when he came back to the States, Phoebe contracted Matthew to help her embrace someone. While Matt had never met the intended victim, it didn't matter much as he couldn't refuse anything that Phoebe commanded of him.
Thus was born one Dorian Alexander Carver.
Matthew took to the newest Malkavian, seeing him as something his sister had broken, something that he could fix or save, even if it was marginal. Phoebe's reign of terror with Mad Matt and Dorian was violent and blood thirsty. It ended 80 years later, when Matthew helped Dorian kill her, to allow them all to escape.
After Phoebe's death, Matt, Maria and Dorian fled Boston and ran to the South. With the rest of Phoebe's collected wealth, Dorian bought a house and Matthew stayed with him, excepting for the stretches of time the Brujah would spend traveling for a mix of business and pleasure.
The 1930's came too quickly and with it, another milestone in Matthew's unlife. A few years prior, the men found a baby on the side of the road. Eliza was adopted into their hearts and gave them both a little purpose. When Maria's groupies killed the child, it tore at a fissure already made by Maria's sleeping with both men. After Matthew avenged Eliza's death and made sure that Dorian wasn't going to frenzy in a rage and get himself killed, Matt left.
On his way back home, he found Dorian walking along the side of the road and the Malkavian explained how Maria had kicked him out at gunpoint. Enraged, Matthew took a few days to send Dorian to the West Coast. When Matt came back, Maria was judged and burned. The house was later bought by Matt and torn down, only to be rebuilt in the early 2000's.
While Dorian lived a simple live, Matthew flourished under his own wealth in Asia, spending the next 50 years chasing after Shangra li and vampires that had broken the Masquerade with breaks to check in on his nephew.
